2nd MAPSA Press Con

My second Press Con and my first contest.

It turned out alright.

We departed last February 17, 2009 at around 5 a.m. (Yes, I know too early). We picked up our last member Giane because one of us ended up not coming at all.

When we were already in Pasig, she asked where were we going. We all asked her if she was serious. She didn't know we were going to Antipolo. She was shocked.

The rest of trip was all sleeping, listening to music, texting and talking with each other. We and ate at the McDonalds near the Antipolo cathedral.

When we finally arrived at St. Michael's Retreat House, there were already students there.

We waited until the program officially started and during Merienda time, we were assigned to our dorms. All the girls from VPS ended up in the last room of the big dorm. Nobody else wanted to join us so we were left with 10 beds.

Then it was lunch then it was lectures for the different categories.

Ms. R was a proctor for my category which was Photo-Journalism so I got to be with her for the whole Press Con. My mentor or well teacher was Sir Scott Hutchison, he was a great photograher and his pictures were amazing.

Photo-Journalism was a great experience. Our category was Organic Shapes and well it was fun shooting pictures but I felt bad when I deleted some of the pictures I had taken beause I only needed 12. But hey, the pictures that I did have were great.

So we handed our memory cards to our proctors and waited for them to be developed. They got back at around 6:30 and a shocker was that they only developed the first 7 and so the pictures I took that were the best weren't developed.

But hey, make the most out of it and in the end I won second at the Photo-Journalism contest.

Funny we were all in all ten contestants and the press con would be awarding the top 10. I was so convinced that i didn't do all too well so I thought I would be in 10th Place but hey I got 2nd.

Almost everyone for Veritas placed and our Newspaper "The WIRE" won many awards and over all we were in the top 5 best performing schools.

I really had fun with the press con! Eventhough its my last year as an editor of The WIRE, I had fun representing my school and of course winning.
